Contact Lens
Contact Lens Fitting in Singapore
Contact lenses give you clear, natural vision without glasses — for work, sport, travel and everyday life. At EMME Visioncare, every pair is professionally fitted by our Singapore-registered optometrists after a full assessment of your prescription, your eye health and the shape of your eyes, so your lenses are comfortable, safe and right for the way you live.
If you have never worn contact lenses before, you may be surprised by how much freedom such a small lens can give you. Modern lenses correct almost every prescription, and for higher prescriptions they can even deliver sharper vision than glasses.
Contact lenses we fit
We fit the full range of soft and specialty lenses, matching the lens to your eyes and your lifestyle:
- Daily disposables — the most convenient and hygienic option, ideal for occasional wear, sport and travel
- Fortnightly and monthly lenses — cost-effective for regular daily wear
- Toric lenses — for astigmatism
- Multifocal lenses — for presbyopia (age-related reading change)
- Coloured and cosmetic lenses — to change or enhance your eye colour
- Rigid gas-permeable (RGP) and scleral lenses — for irregular or complex corneas
- Myopia-control lenses and orthokeratology (Ortho-K)
Not sure what suits you? After your assessment, your optometrist will recommend the lens type best matched to your prescription, eye health and daily routine.
Myopia control with contact lenses
For children and teenagers, certain contact lenses do more than correct vision — they can slow the progression of short-sightedness (myopia) as it develops. For myopia control, contact lenses are generally more effective than glasses.
At EMME Visioncare we fit MiSight 1 Day, a soft daily disposable lens designed specifically to slow myopia progression in children. For even stronger control, orthokeratology (Ortho-K) gently reshapes the cornea overnight, so your child sees clearly through the day with no lenses to wear — worn safely at home under your supervision.

Contact lenses for children
There is no fixed minimum age for contact lenses. Suitability depends far more on your child's maturity, motivation and readiness to handle the lenses than on age alone. Our optometrists have successfully fitted many younger children, and we guide both parent and child through every step.
For children we usually begin with daily disposable lenses, which are simpler and safer across all activities, including sport and swimming. Ortho-K is another excellent option for active children.
Contact lenses and dry eyes
If your eyes feel dry, gritty or tired in lenses, the right lens material and a careful fitting can make a real difference. We also fit lenses suited to sensitive and dry eyes — see contact lenses for dry eyes.
Frequently asked questions
Can I wear contact lenses?
In most cases, yes. The right lens depends on your prescription and eye health, which we assess during a comprehensive eye examination. Modern lenses correct myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness), astigmatism and presbyopia (age-related reading difficulty).
Are contact lenses comfortable?
Today's soft lenses are extremely comfortable — most wearers soon forget they have them in. Lens materials have improved enormously, making the latest lenses healthier and easier to wear than older generations. If lenses did not suit you in the past, it is well worth trying again.
Is my child too young for contact lenses?
Age matters less than readiness. If your child is mature, motivated and able to handle the lenses with your support, they may be a good candidate. We will guide you both through safe handling and care, and recommend the most suitable lens.
What contact lens options are available?
We fit daily, fortnightly and monthly disposables; toric lenses for astigmatism; multifocals for presbyopia; coloured lenses; rigid gas-permeable (RGP), scleral and hybrid lenses for complex eyes; and myopia-control and Ortho-K lenses. Your optometrist will recommend the best fit for your eyes and lifestyle.
Are contact lenses difficult to use?
Not at all — it takes a little practice, much like learning to ride a bike. We will patiently teach you how to insert, remove and care for your lenses, then review your progress at a follow-up visit to make sure you are comfortable and confident.
Can I wear both glasses and contact lenses?
Absolutely. Many people wear glasses at work and lenses for the gym, sport, weekends or special occasions. Daily disposables are ideal for occasional wear — simply wear them and discard them, with no cleaning required.
